About Us

THE C.O.G.O.N Dance MINISTRY

The purpose of dance ministry is to spread the gospel. We dance to lift up our Father in heaven and fight for the kingdom of God! The dancers of the COGON dance ministry in particular dance to minister, praise and worship but never to entertain. We want everyone to understand that everything we do, including the things we enjoy the most, should give glory to our Father in heaven!

How It Started

Our Story

In 2007, a few young ladies from the Church of God of the Nazarene (COGON) learned the powerful impact of liturgical dance through an amazing minister named Ms. Tracy. She quickly became an inspiration to the inexperienced dancers as they branched off to create the first dance ministry in their own church home.

Now, the Church of God of the Nazarene was not always located in Orange, NJ. The congregation once gathered in Newark, NJ in a small store front church. Even though the building was small, it gave birth to many great things!

After about five years of studying under Sister Tracy, those young students created the Daughters of Destiny Praise Dance Team or what is known as the COGON Dance Ministry today! They submitted the ministry to the Lord and have been spreading the gospel through dance ever since. The ministry continues to prosper as the dancers flourish in their walk with God.

Daughters of Destiny Praise Dance Team Agenda:

The agenda of D.O.D is to provide outreach opportunities to unify the church in the arts. Teaching praise, worship and consistency, the dance ministry team promotes individual growth and fellowship.

This group of dancers is ever growing and learning! While working on building confidence, we also help establish an understanding of ministering through dance.

Young Adults

DOD Elite dancers are trained to minister in environments outside our church home! With guidance from the Holy Spirit these dancers strive for spiritual maturity in the art of dance.
